Kate White is recognized internationally as not only the veteran editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan, the bestselling women’s magazine in the world, but also as the critically acclaimed author of both fiction and nonfiction books. Ms. Weggins went on to solve more grisly murders and entertain readers in A Body to Die For (2003), ‘Til Death Do Us Part (2004), Over Her Dead Body (2005), and then again in Lethally Blond (2007), all New York Times bestsellers. These books were recently optioned by Lions Gate Pictures.
Kate’s highly anticipated first thriller, Hush, with her new publisher Harper Collins, will be available in bookstores March 2010. Hush marks Kate’s entry into a whole new genre. Set in the world of fertility clinics and hailed as a “pulse-pounding, chilling, and provocative” read, it’s the story of an ordinary woman who flees the scene of a murder and realizes it’s not just the law that is hunting her.

I can honestly say this booked flowed liked a well tuned sleek automobile -- page after page and chapter after chapter it drew me into the story. This is book caused me to lose sleep, because I couldn’t find the chapter that would let me lay the book down and go to sleep – I wanted to keep reading chapter after chapter. My mind wanted to help Phoebe solve the mystery and after every clue I was drawn deeper and deeper into this fascinating mystery.
This book is full of characters and Kate White is a master at character development. Each character had their individual human flaws and none of them were perfect enough not to be considered a murderer.
This book is full of twist, turns, and detours. I thought I had truly guessed who had committed murder – I was wrong. This book is not predictable.
The ending is fascinating and not what I expected. My only complaint is the ending felt a little rushed. I think one more chapter would have allowed for the ending to not feel rushed. The ending didn’t leave anything not answered, but it seemed to happen so fast – maybe I just didn’t want this novel to end. The truth is I didn’t want it to end. I wanted more. Kate White has added one more reader that adores her writing.
Who should read this novel?
Anyone that loves fast paced mystery thrillers will want to read this novel. If you like a woman protagonist that is smart, cleaver, and romantic then you will find this novel as a must read.
