ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Steve Martini was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay area. An honors graduate of the University of California at Santa Cruz, he holds a law degree from the University of the Pacific’s McGeorge School of Law. Martini’s first career was in journalism. He worked as a newspaper reporter in Los Angeles and as a correspondent at the California State Capitol in Sacramento, specializing in legal issues. In 1974 he entered private law practice in California, where he appeared in both state and federal courts. During his legal career, he worked as a legislative representative for the State Bar of California, served as special counsel to the California Victims of Violent Crimes Program, and was an administrative law judge and supervising hearing officer.
In 1984 Martini turned his talents to fiction, quickly earning positions on bestseller lists. All but his first book spent time on the New York Times Bestsellers list. To date, he has authored twelve novels, including eight featuring his popular lawyer alter ego, Paul Madriani.
In 1996 Undue Influence aired as a four-hour miniseries on CBS, followed by The Judge on NBC in 2001.

MY REVIEW:Steve Martini has followed his bestseller, GUARDIAN OF LIES, with a new book already on its way to the top. In THE RULE OF NINE, readers will be thrilled to find Paul Madriani, California lawyer, up to his neck in suspense, intrigue, and danger. After the San Diego defense attorney helped to prevent a nuclear explosion in California at the naval base in Coronado, Madriani was warned to not discuss it but he finds that hard to do. Instead, he is being convinced by Jocelyn Cole, a weapons control expert, to tell what he knows to help stop any more attacks. Madriani realizes that those in power aren’t aware of the very real danger they are facing and so after making sure his daughter Sarah is hidden safely away, he and Herman Diggs, Madriani’s partner, as well as Cole take on the case and do their own investigating.
The excitement grows when a talented terrorist known to readers only as Thorn wants to destroy America, and using Liquida, a hired assassin known as “the Mexicutioner“, to help him, tries to bring about total annihilation in the heartland. Thorn has limitless funds and powerful friends to support his cause giving him a very good chance to run a successful campaign of terror.
The novel is fast paced, “hold your breath” reading that never stops until it comes to a shocking conclusion that leaves the reader wanting to know more. With the assassin Liquida and the Old Weatherman involved, THE RULE OF NINE should be the next adventure you add to you TBR (To Be Read) list.
