ABOUT THE BOOK:
Fashion curator Athena Smith will do anything to get her hands on the Clayworth family's couture collection for her exhibit. Sherrill Bodine has been writing stories since junior high, when she won a pair of silver skates in a state-wide essay contest. While moving twenty-two times back and forth across America and rearing her four children, she published fifteen award-winning novels under two pseudoynyms (Lynn Leslie/Leslie Lynn). Now she's decided to be herself and write about the people, parties, and high-life in the city she knows best: Chicago. When she's not in the Windy City with her husband, family, and Newfoundland and pug dogs, she's fulfilling her passion to travel to exotic locales around the world
REVIEW:
Athena Smith is a fashion curator for a museum and wants to get a hold of some couture gowns that are locked away in a secret closet of the owners, John Clayworth. When she gets a chance to go into the closet, she becomes ill from some gases she inhales. In the hospital, she finds herself in contact with Drew Clayworth who she never thought she'd see again as well as he didn't expect to be with her.
Athena's and Drew's families have a bad past in which her father was set up by the Clayworths and has to take an early retirement. As a result, Athena has always had bad feelings toward them all. However, when she sees Drew again, sparks once more fly and they are off and running in this light and fluffy story. Drew is determined to help Athena find out if there is a culprit responsible for her suspicions. I found it a quick read but didn't like it as much as Bodine's TALK OF THE TOWN. I did find it interesting that the story is actually based on true events that happened to a friend of the author.
